Inspection of the uterine cavity by endoscopy with access through the cervix is hysteroscopy. The process will take about 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Any female suffering with polyps and fibroids may have to undertake the hysteroscopy. It is essential to remove these non-cancerous growths found in the uterus.

Dr. Mayuri explains that the procedure helps to identify the cause of heavy bleeding during the menstrual cycle, between the periods or after the menopause. After the hysteroscopy, the female may have a slight bleeding or cramps that will last for 1-2 days. The entire procedure can be a slight painful at times.
